The hip-hop world is buzzing with the news that DJ Akademiks, a prominent Drake supporter, has some strong opinions about the rapper's upcoming album, ICEMAN. In a recent interview, Akademiks revealed that he advised Drake to leave Kendrick Lamar alone and not engage in any more lyrical battles. He believes that continuing this feud would be a mistake, stating, "It's over. There's nothing more to gain."
But here's where it gets controversial... Akademiks suggests that Drake should take a page from Jay-Z's book and employ subtle disses, rather than direct engagement. He argues that Drake has already established his legacy and has nothing to gain from further battles.
"Why engage with rappers when there's no benefit?" Akademiks asks. "It's time to move on and focus on other aspects of his career."
However, Akademiks also hints that Drake might not take his advice, leaving fans wondering if ICEMAN will reignite the flame.
In addition to his thoughts on the album, Akademiks provided an update on the legal dispute between Drake and Universal Music Group (UMG). Despite their lawsuit over Kendrick's diss track, "Not Like Us," Akademiks predicts that ICEMAN won't be Drake's last project with UMG.
"ICEMAN is shaping up to be a classic," he tweeted.
And this is the part most people miss... Drake's team has indicated their plans to appeal the recent dismissal of their lawsuit against UMG.
